One photo I included is the idea of sticky-note annotations. While reading books, they help give you a recap of each page so you can understand the main points. They help you to notice these points in an easy manner instead of trying to re-read the whole page and remember the main points again. I am not always a big fan of this form of annotation however. It only works well for me within books, I would not be able to work with them on articles or other forms of writing. When I am looking for something within a text, having the sticky notes on most pages can get confusing because you need to have a general idea of the location of the point you are looking for. And then once you find the specific page, having to search through the sentences to find the specific one you’re looking for since the main point is written on the sticky note and not marked within the page. Beside that, I enjoyed using sticky notes to read They Say, I Say this semester. One new type of annotations I have found to be my favorite throughout the semester is the technique of chunking within text. It allows you to give a brief description of a lengthy group of sentences so it shows the main point of that text easily right next to it. I have incorporated highlighting within the chunking approach to really bring attention to the main points while describing them on the side margins. It has helped me to easily find a point I was looking for throughout an article by the description I included on the side. It helps to stay organized and summarizes the main points in and easily recognizable way. I have begun using this technique in many of my other classes and was the main way I began to annotate my sources for big data. These techniques have helped me throughout the semester and I will continue to use these techniques of annotations throughout my classes since they can organize your thoughts and easily help you address main points.
