For my big data essay I was able to fix my previous mistakes within integration of sources and advance my skills. Using “They Say, I Say” I had reviewed the chapter for framing sentences and used some of the templates to act as a guide within my writing and assist me in integrating my sources. This essay was much better with integrating sources because of using the book. I had provided background information on the author, reasons for why the quote was important, and a follow up clarification on what the quote was saying. Also using “Little Seagull” I was able to properly format my citations and in-text citations in the correct format of using a database. This helped me to follow the MLA rules and avoid plagiarism by correctly citing my sources. Overall, this essay has shown more of my integration skills within my writing because I have worked on these skills from my previous essay and am now able to properly integrate quotes.
Example from Big Data Essay: “Bonnie Kaplan, author of the article, “How Should Health Data Be Used?”, discusses the influences that big data can have on the medical field and discusses more opportunities for research that stem from the collection of big data: “Electronic health records and health information networks provide a wealth of data for public health, health outcome improvement, and research. Data could be used for a range of beneficial purposes, from outcomes and comparative effectiveness research to designing clinical trials and monitoring drug safety” (Kaplan, 319). All patients would contribute to the data lakes, and all patients would essentially benefit from the new discoveries and treatments that would be discovered.”
