Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process.

Peer review throughout the semester has benefited the editor of the paper, and the writer as well. The editor learns to identify different areas that can be improved to help the writer advance their essay. At the beginning of the semester, I included a total of two comments on my partner’s essay on higher education.One comment was suggesting an incorrect sentence level issue. I said to italicize the title of an article, but I now know that is incorrect formatting. My last comment included a positive note on how well the essay was written. My comments now are much more developed and meaningful for the writer. In Elise’s paper, comment number eight suggests adding more to her claims and specifying the meaning of her quote, to develop her “I say” part of her writing, related to the “organization” and “ideas” category. More comments I included that related to the “local” category and focused more on sentence level issues, are  comments numbered 10, 13, 26, 31, 35, 41, and 49. My development through peer review has drastically improved, from my first time, including two comments, to my other peer reviews, including a variety of comments that are detailed and assist in development as well as sentence-level. My peer reviewers have helped me in my writing, and I wanted to be able to contribute to their writing in a way needed to help them advance their writing.
